Eye Care Services
Our comprehensive eye exam includes a thorough eye health evaluation including testing for cataracts, glaucoma and macular degeneration, and a wavefront-assisted refraction to determine a prescription for lenses. The doctors then explain the results of the examination and make recommendations to meet your visual needs. Our optometry team is dedicated to providing state of the art vision care.
Children’s Eye Care
Undiagnosed vision problems may be the cause of some learning difficulties. With more than 20 years of experience in pediatric eye care and vision therapy, Dr. Kara Heying and Dr. Christine Winter are the only Board-Certified Developmental Optometrists in Cedar Rapids. They passed rigorous exams and are fellows of the College of Optometrists in Vision Development (COVD). Dr. Kara Heying is the past COVD President. Both of them have lectured across the nation on the benefits of vision therapy.
Contact Lens Evaluations
In addition to the comprehensive eye health exam, we carry all the latest in contact lens technology and specialize in the hard-to-fit patient. Our contact lens guarantee states that if you are not completely satisfied with your lenses within the first three months of your initial evaluation, we will provide an in-office credit for your contact lens evaluation fee and refund the entire cost of your contact lenses.
Vision Therapy/Sports Vision
Optometric visual training, sometimes called vision therapy or VT, is that part of optometric care devoted to developing, improving and enhancing people’s visual performance. Vision therapy can benefit people of all ages. Developing visual skills includes learning to use both eyes together effectively. Having both eyes move, align, fixate and focus as a team enhances your ability to interpret and understand the potential visual information that is available to you. During vision therapy, visual-motor skills and endurance are developed through the use of specialized computer and optical devices, including therapeutic lenses, prisms and filters.
Corneal Refractive Therapy (CRT)
Corneal Refractive Therapy is a non-surgical process clinically developed to reshape the cornea while you sleep. The Paragon CRT therapeutic lenses are similar in appearance to standard hard contact lenses, however they gently reshape the corneal surface during sleep and provide clear, natural vision when lenses are removed upon waking. Multiple studies have shown that this type of correction can help slow down the progression of myopia. Call today to find out more on the cost and the benefits of this service.
